Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital

As part of the Faculty of Medicine, the Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital serves as a training and education center that provides super-tertiary medical care for patients in Chiang Mai and 16 other provinces in the Northern region of Thailand. As a center for providing medical services, the hospital has developed a collaborative network known as One Region, One Big Hospital (OROBH) among private and public hospitals located in these provinces. The hospital provides services in every medical discipline through a number of located centers
including the Northern Thailand Heart Center, the Northern Neuroscience Center, the Trauma Center, the Cancer Treatment and Research Center, the Respiratory Research Center, and the Lung Health Center. The hospital maintains 1,400 patient beds, 69 intensive care unit (ICU) beds,
92 sub-ICU beds, and 28 operating rooms. There are approximately 1,300,000 patients registered / treated in the out-patient departments and 45000 in the in-patient departments per year. Statistics for major surgical procedures included approximately 1,000 open heart surgery cases, 800 neurosurgery cases, and 40 renal transplantations each year. To improve the quality of our medical services, especially for complicated medical conditions, and to provide excellent academic services, the hospital promotes interdisciplinary approaches and the utilization of high-technology equipments.

Awards

The endeavors mentioned above have won the Maharaj Nakorn Chinag Mai Hospital numerous awards at both the national and international levels, including the prestigious United Nations Public Service Award in 2009. Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital was the winner of “The Outstanding Public Service Award: Innovation” from the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission, The Government of Thailand, in 2010. In additional to winning service awards, the hospital has earned management awards. In 2011, the hospital won the Asian Hospital Management Awards under two categories. The first award was under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) category from a project “Music Therapy for Physically Disabled Children”; the second, under the Bio Medical Equipment/Facilities Improvement Project category was for a project “Improvement of Outpatient Service System by DigiCard”.
