DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY
PROGRAM IN BIOCHEMISTRY
(INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM)

1. Program Characteristic
      Type 1.1          48        credits for students with Master’s degree
      The program type 1.1  is designed for 3 academic years, and the period of study shall not exceed 5 academic years.
      Type 1.2          72        credits for students with Bachelor’s degree
      The program type 1.2  is designed for 5 academic years, and the period of study shall not exceed 7 academic years.
2. Tuition Fee
      Type 1.1          360,000  Baht (Thai citizen), 480,000 Baht (Non-Thai citizen)
      Type 1.2          600,000 Baht (Thai citizen), 800,000 Baht (Non-Thai citizen)

                        B.  Academic Activities

  1. A student must organize and present a seminar on a topic related to his/her thesis once every semester for at least three semesters, and attend a seminar for every semester that the course offers.
  2. A student has to present a thesis progression to the Department’s seminar at least once per regular semester throughout the study period.
  3. A student must present his/her research work in an international academic conference at least once.              
  4. The whole or part of a thesis must be published/accepted for publication at least 2 papers. At least one of them must be published in a journal or an academic medium with peer-reviews at international level which is acceptable in that program. The others may be published in English in journals or academic media with peer-reviews at national level which are acceptable in that program.
  5. A student must report thesis progression to the Graduate School every semester, for approval by the Chairman of the Graduate Study Committee.

                           C. Non-credit Courses
                                    1. Graduate School requirement    - a foreign language
                                    2. Program requirement               - none
                           D. Qualifying Examination

  1. A student must complete a qualifying examination to evaluate his/her ability before presenting a thesis proposal.
  2. An unsuccessful examinee will have one more opportunity to take a re-examination within the following regular semester.
  3. An unsuccessful examinee will be transferred to Master’s Degree studies with the approval of the Graduate Study Administrative Committee.
  4. A student who has inadequate knowledge for doing a thesis may take extra course(s) without credit upon an approval of the Thesis Advisory Committee. 

                             E. Comprehensive Examination

  1. A student must complete a comprehensive examination to evaluate his/her knowledge further than thesis.
  2. A student must take all of the non-credit courses according to the program requirement
  3. An unsuccessful examinee will have one more opportunity to take a re-examination within the following regular semester.
  4. An unsuccessful examinee will be transferred to Master’s Degree studies with the approval of the Graduate Study Administrative Committee.
